Event enabled integrations (EEI) are being increasingly used for real time decisioning by the businesses. It has proved exteremly beneficial in real time cross-selling in the retail, banking and telecom industries.
From the technical standpoint, EEI encompasses Event Driven Architecture (EDA) & Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to integrate a large variety of enterprise applications and tools in order to facilitate rapid identification of businesses' threats and opportunities.
While new technological innovations provide the necessary high performance IT infrastructure, the total cost of ownership (TCO) for new technologies to leverage event enabled integrations can be daunting. While overwhelming TCO has kept innovative approaches involving EEI out of the reach of small and medium size businesses (SMBs), IaaS providers have started making small inroads into this area.
EEI in cloud can provide a cost-effective solution for SMBs while large companies can make necessary investmen in the infra-structure. Given a large variety of technology vendors and different tools offered by them, it often is not easy choice for any size of company to decide where they want to make investment.
